On 21st March , 2017 ISRO has commissioned indigenously built two most expensive and major facilities a Shock Tunnel and a Hyper sonic Wind Tunnel at VSSC or Vikram Sarabhai Space Center , Kerala, India. This facility is like NASA and ROSCOSMOS in terms of size and capabilities and also it is the third largest in the world.
Entire facility has been indigenously designed and developed by ISRO and its support industries to help aerodynamic characterization of advanced space transportation systems.
This facility was dedicated in the memory of a pioneer in space industry late Satish Dhawan.
